Source. No warranties or guarantees are made as to usability and is strictly "at user's risk." ==================================== USAGE RIGHTS: ==================================== You are free to use or modify these prefabs in whatever way you wish, provided you a) do NOT sell them in any way and b) do NOT redistribute them outside of maps (bsp files). ==================================== INSTRUCTIONS: ==================================== These instructions assume that you are familiar with the file and folder structure in your \Steam\ folder. 1) Files from this archive will end up in two locations: Place all .vtf and .vmt files in their corresponding folders as dictated by the file structure in the winrar archive: Program Files\Steam\steamapps\\sourcesdk\bin\orangebox\bin\prefabs AND Program Files\Steam\steamapps\\sourcesdk_content\zps\mapsrc\ You may need to create some of these folders. Note that if you unrar this archive in your \\ folder, all of this should automatically be done for you if you click the "use pathnames" option. Once done, the prefabs are ready for use. Open up Hammer. 2) Instructions on how to insert prefabs into your maps can be found here: http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Prefabs 2a. Select the Entity Tool from the toolbar or by pressing . 2b. In the New Objects toolbar, select a prefab library in the Categories: selection box. 2c. Select a specific prefab to insert from the library in the Objects: selection box. 2d. Click in the 3D view where you want the prefab to be placed, or click in one of the 2D views and press to insert the prefab. You're done! Feel free to use some, all or none of the prefabs. There are thousands of ways to use light in game. These prefabs are intended only as a starting point. While they'll be useful for a new mapper to quickly set up lighting in a map, you will most likely want to change the brightness and/or colour of the lights. All of the lights are off-white (some closer to white than others) and brightness has been set based on what looked most dramatic, interesting, or distinctive in a pitch black room. With more lights in a single room, you may also want to delete the excessive light entities used for ambience.
